JIMI HENDRIX '69-'70
At Woodstock Music Festival with Gypsy Sun and Rainbows
ABOUT THE STILLS
These are the sessions where Jimi brought together a group of musicians which included Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell, Larry Lee, Juma Sultan and Jerry Valez that was the band he formed for the Woodstock concert. Hendrix called the band Gypsy Sun and Rainbows. Jimi was rehearsing and teaching the band members the set list to be played at Woodstock. Larry Lee, in a number of the photos here with Hendrix and Billy Cox, being an amazing guitarist, vocalist and songwriter from Memphis, shared guitar chords and vocals with Hendrix at Woodstock.
Shortly after these pictures were taken, Hendrix rented a house in the Woodstock vicinity in Boiceville, NY where the band members moved to during the summer of 1969 to rehearse and prepare for the Woodstock concert performance. I was fortunate to be there to experience it.
